Muzaffarabad | July 10, 2026 — A senior leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has accused Pakistani security forces and local police of using excessive force during the Kotteri incident, alleging that three civilians were killed and several homes were raided during a security operation.
In a statement, Sardar Umar Nazeer Kashmiri alleged that personnel from the Pakistan Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC), Pakistan Constabulary (PC), Islamabad Police, and Azad Kashmir Police carried out operations against what he described as peaceful protesters. He further claimed that three young men—identified as Mustafa Rahim, Nasir Nazeer of Makhyala, and Siddiq of Barah Bari—were killed during the operation.

Allegations of Property Damage and Raids
Kashmiri also alleged that security personnel conducted raids on several homes, including those belonging to Nasir Khurshid, Haris Haroon, and members of their families. According to his statement, valuables including cash and a laptop were taken during the raids, while other household property was allegedly damaged.
He further claimed that the homes of Adil Kabir and a neighboring widow were also searched during the operation.

Calls for Accountability
The JAAC leader accused senior administrative and police officials, including the Inspector General of Police, the Deputy Inspector General, and the Commissioner of Poonch Division, of authorizing the operation. He called for those responsible to be held accountable and demanded an independent and transparent investigation into the incident.
“Our movement is peaceful, and we will continue to expose what we believe are human rights violations,” Kashmiri said in his statement.
