Renowned Pakistani journalist Aizaz Syed says the Joint Awami Action Committee's struggle in Azad Kashmir has rewritten history, proving that state pressure and smear campaigns cannot silence public rights movements.
Senior Pakistani journalist Aizaz Syed has praised the ongoing public movement led by Omar Nazir Kashmiri, a leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC), in Rawalakot, stating that the Kashmiri people have disproved all negative assumptions and allegations through their resolute struggle.
In a statement shared on social media, Syed stated that the people of Pakistan-administered Kashmir fighting for their rights and legitimate demands have written a new chapter of public protest that can no longer be ignored.
According to Syed, critics and opponents attempted to discredit the genuine struggle by leveling various allegations against the demonstrators, labeling them as "anti-state" and part of a "foreign agenda." However, these tactics proved ineffective. Neither fabricated accusations nor the intense pressure and strategies of the administration, police, and law enforcement agencies could diminish the momentum of the protests.
He added that reports are circulating indicating the government is considering significant constitutional changes, which could soon bring positive developments for the demonstrators on the streets. However, it remains to be seen how coming days unfold and what the ultimate outcome of this awakened public struggle will be.
Concluding his statement, Syed emphasized that regardless of the final outcome, one fact is now established: these Kashmiris have proven that when people stand firm for their legitimate demands, they cannot be silenced through mere allegations, state pressure, or defamation tactics.
