Overview

Jammu Kashmir Liberation League (JKLL) is a political party in Azad Jammu & Kashmir founded in 1962 by Khurshid Hasan Khurshid, the first elected President of AJK. The party advocates for Kashmiri self-determination and a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict through center-left political activism.

History

Established by Khurshid Hasan Khurshid (a close associate of Muhammad Ali Jinnah), JKLL was conceived as a 'revolutionary provisional successor government' to the deposed Dogra rule. Khurshid envisioned the party as a vehicle for advancing Kashmiri freedom with full autonomy. The party continues to honor his legacy after his untimely death in a 1988 road accident.

Ideology

  • Peaceful Kashmiri self-determination
  • Preservation of AJK's autonomous status
  • Center-left economic policies
  • Cultural preservation of Kashmiri identity
  • Democratic political processes

Leadership

  • Founder: Khurshid Hasan Khurshid (1962-1988)
  • Current Leadership: Collective leadership maintaining Khurshid's vision
  • Organizational Structure: Central committee with regional branches

Activities

  • Annual commemoration of Khurshid Hasan Khurshid
  • Political rallies and awareness campaigns
  • Advocacy for Kashmiri rights in international forums
  • Cultural preservation initiatives
  • Monitoring human rights violations in Kashmir

Political Influence

While JKLL maintains an active presence in AJK's political discourse, its influence is limited by the dominance of larger parties. The party focuses on ideological advocacy rather than electoral politics, emphasizing its founding principles of self-determination and autonomy.
