Sindh High Court Seeks Answers on Frozen Bank Accounts of Former Pakistan President

Islambad, Pakistan: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to relevant parties, seeking explanations for the freezing of bank accounts belonging to former President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, and his family.

During the hearing, Dr. Alvi’s lawyer informed the court that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had blocked the accounts of the former president, his wife, and children as part of an ongoing investigation.

The court observed that the move had caused significant hardship for the family, making it difficult for them to meet their daily expenses. Dr. Alvi’s counsel, who is representing him pro bono, pleaded for relief.

The court has now directed all parties involved to submit their responses by June 5, when the matter will be taken up again.

The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of Dr. Alvi’s affairs, with the former president facing several legal challenges in recent months.

The court will review the responses and determine the next course of action in the case.
