PTI Condemns Assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed profound sorrow over the reported assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Imam Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing it as an act that threatens regional stability and international law.

In an official statement released on Facebook, PTI highlighted the deep mourning for the Iranian people and extended condolences on behalf of the people of Pakistan. The party warned that the escalation of military actions by the United States and Israel could further destabilize the region and increase the risk of civilian casualties, especially as large crowds gather in public spaces during this period of grief.

“Even in the most difficult and barbaric of times, the sanctity of civilian life must be respected, and restraint must prevail over retaliation,” PTI emphasized. The statement also urged Iran to act responsibly, noting concerns about reports of drone strikes affecting civilian areas in neighbouring Arab states.

PTI called on all states to avoid providing support for what it described as illegal aggression by Israel and the United States against Iran, underlining its commitment to international law, sovereignty, and diplomacy. The party stressed that the path forward must focus on de-escalation, accountability, and the protection of innocent lives.

The statement reflects PTI’s principled stance in favor of restraint and dialogue in the wake of rising tensions in the Middle East, and highlights Pakistan’s concern over civilian safety during periods of heightened regional conflict.
