Light Rain Likely in Parts of Jammu & Kashmir Today: Forecast Suggests Pleasant Weather Ahead

Date:

Srinagar: Light rain showers are expected to grace several parts of Jammu and Kashmir today, bringing much-needed respite from the prevailing summer heat. According to the latest bulletin issued by Kashmir Weather, overcast skies and a drop in temperatures are on the cards, though no significant rainfall event has been forecast.

The cloudy conditions are likely to bring down the day temperatures by 3 to 6°C, offering a pleasant spell for residents of the valley. Weather experts have ruled out any heatwave conditions for this week, projecting relatively mild and comfortable weather across the region.

Commuters in Srinagar were already seen walking through sporadic drizzles this morning, as thin layers of clouds enveloped the city’s skyline.

“The system over northern India remains weak but is enough to trigger light showers in isolated areas. We do not expect widespread or heavy rain at this time,” a meteorologist at Kashmir Weather said.

Pakistan-administered Kashmir Updates

Across the Line of Control, in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK), the weather has also taken a turn towards cooler and wetter conditions.

  • Muzaffarabad: Light rain and overcast skies are expected in the capital today, with temperatures dropping to around 30°C during the day and 22°C at night.

  • Rawalakot: Occasional showers with cooler temperatures between 24–26°C.

  • Bagh: A mild spell of rain likely, with fresh mountain air and temperatures in the mid-20s.

  • Kotli: Partly cloudy skies with chances of brief rain, temperature highs around 32°C.

  • Neelum Valley: Morning clouds with potential light rain in higher elevations, keeping the valley refreshingly cool.

Outlook for the Week

Meteorological agencies suggest that the coming week will remain mostly pleasant for both sides of Kashmir, with no extreme weather events anticipated. Residents are advised to carry light rain gear and remain updated with daily forecasts as conditions may change quickly in mountainous regions.

Weather experts continue to monitor the evolving system, and further updates will be shared as new data becomes available.
