Kashmiri Paneer Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams paneer (cottage cheese), cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (beaten)
  • 1 cup water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step Action
1. Heat Oil Heat mustard oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
2. Cook Onions & Spices Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.
3. Add Ground Spices Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, and salt. Stir to mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add Yogurt Add the beaten yogurt to the pan and cook until the oil starts separating from the mixture.
5. Add Water Add water to the pan and bring to a simmer.
6. Add Paneer Gently add the paneer cubes and cook for another 5-7 minutes, allowing them to absorb the flavors.
7. Simmer & Garnish Let the curry simmer for a few more minutes until the gravy thickens. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
