Quran Teacher in Azad Kashmir Demands Justice After Alleged Appointment Denial

0

Hattian Bala: Qari Liaqat Mahmood Mehravi, a resident of Langla village in Jhelum Valley, claims he was denied a Quran teacher position despite his qualifications and years of experience. Mehravi reportedly recited the Quran during Taraweeh prayers for 28 years and won several Quran competitions.

Mehravi alleges that after a court ruling created new teaching positions, he was initially congratulated on securing one. However, upon reaching the Department of Education Office (DEO) to collect his appointment order, he was informed that the order was cancelled.

Mehravi has appealed to Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq for intervention, expressing disappointment over the alleged injustice. He threatens self-immolation if his grievances are not addressed.

Poor Policies Drive Investors Away from Azad Kashmir, Leading to Unemployment Crisis

0

Muzaffarabad (Azadi Times) – The ill-advised policies of the Azad Kashmir government have sparked a downturn in investor confidence, resulting in the closure of numerous factories and a looming unemployment crisis.

Distressed industrialists in Azad Kashmir are contemplating shutting down their operations and relocating elsewhere due to the protracted closure of factories.

The ongoing sit-in by unemployed individuals has now reached its eighth day, amplifying the plea for urgent action to restore employment opportunities. Families of affected workers are grappling with dire circumstances, with basic necessities becoming increasingly scarce.

The closure of factories in Mirpur and Bhambhar by the Inland Revenue Department has triggered widespread protests among unemployed workers and staff. They denounce the government’s policies as “anti-industrial” and decry the flagrant violation of their basic human rights.

Citizens highlight that despite contributing billions of rupees in taxes annually, their factories have been arbitrarily sealed based on unsubstantiated allegations. The wave of closures has not only crippled existing businesses but has also dissuaded potential investors from engaging in Azad Kashmir’s economy.

Appealing to the Chief Justice, Chief Secretary, and Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, unemployed citizens demand the immediate reopening of sealed factories to alleviate their plight and ensure the well-being of their families.

The ongoing investigation into alleged financial fraud involving Pakistanis residing abroad in Mirpur has further exacerbated the economic uncertainty. Despite this, no conclusive results have emerged, fueling disillusionment among investors and expatriates alike.

The situation underscores the importance of providing a conducive environment for capitalists worldwide, fostering investment, and economic growth. Instead, the Azad Kashmir government and the Inland Revenue Department stand accused of exacerbating hardships and driving away potential investors through harassment and punitive measures.

Efforts to rectify these policies are imperative to restore investor confidence, revitalize the economy, and mitigate the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Azad Kashmir.

Outbreak of  Malignant Disease Claims Lives of Livestock in Azad Kashmir’s Jhelum Valley

HATTIAN BALA: In the villages of Nalai, Gandigaran, and Hotiri in Union Council Pahal of the Jhelum Valley district in Azad Kashmir, a distressing outbreak of muzziness has resulted in the deaths of eleven animals.

Among the casualties were five buffaloes, one water buffalo, four cows, and one bull. The affected villagers, including Muhammad Qasim, Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Salim, Muhammad Hanif, Sarfraz Awan, Sher Muhammad, Sherzaman, and Muhammad Basharat Awan, have suffered significant losses.

Despite repeated pleas to the Animal Affairs Department of Jhelum Valley for preventive measures and vaccinations, their response has been inadequate, leaving the local community in dismay. The locals have been advised to feed black salt to the animals, but sadly, this has not proven effective in curing the disease, leading to the animals’ untimely demise within twelve to thirty-six hours of falling ill.

Expressing grave concern over the negligence of the Animal Affairs Department, former District Council candidate Chaudhry Waheedul Hasan and Union Council Member Chaudhry Nizakat Hussain have called upon the Prime Minister, the Minister of Animal Affairs, and the Chief Secretary of Azad Kashmir to intervene immediately. They demand urgent measures to safeguard the remaining livestock and prevent further losses, including sending a lab team and senior doctors to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance.

Furthermore, there are apprehensions among residents of other areas in the Jhelum Valley regarding the potential sale of sick animals to butchers in the markets, which could pose a threat to human health. They urge the Deputy Commissioner of Jhelum Valley to promptly address this issue to protect citizens from any harm.

Late-night raids by Hattian Bala resulted in the apprehension of non-registered and non-state individuals, who were subsequently handed over to the city police station after filing cases against them.

Under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Jhelum, Syed Ashfaq Gilani, and SSP Jhelum, Valley Marza Zahid Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Hattian Bala Iyaz Ahmed Chughtai, along with SHO City Naveed ul Hassan, led the operation, which took place on Thursday and Friday nights.

Thirteen foreign individuals (non state) residing in hotels, rented residential rooms, and shops were arrested during the operation, and legal proceedings were initiated against them under sections 55/109, leading to their detention.

Recent incidents, including the abduction attempt of a student from a swimming club and an endeavor to lure a two-year-old girl from Chinar Village by a foreign national, prompted swift action from the district administration and police against illegally residing foreign individuals.

Assistant Commissioner Hattian Bala Iyaz Chughtai emphasized the ongoing stringent measures, including search operations and legal actions, against such individuals across the district.

Property owners were reminded of their obligation to inform the local police station when renting out accommodation, shops, or rooms to foreigners.

Failure to comply with this requirement would result in strict legal consequences as part of the National Action Plan. Local residents were advised to ensure that foreign individuals sign lease agreements with the local police to avoid legal repercussions and disturbances.

Eyewitnesses reported that Ali Qadir was seen writhing in pain after the accident. Promptly, other workers present at the scene, who were engaged in late-night cable repair work, rushed to his aid. Challenges Faced by Azad Kashmir Newspaper Vendors Highlighted Amid Flour Crisis

0

Muzaffarabad (Azadi Times): Even during the blessed month of Ramadan, newspaper vendors, who are the backbone of the newspaper industry, struggle to obtain government flour to feed their children.

They lament the disparity, questioning why government aid seems reserved for the affluent while neglecting the needs of the poor. Despite complaints to Prime Minister Azad Kashmir and futile attempts to engage the Secretary of Food, the issue remains unresolved.

The Distribution and Food Control Department’s (DFC) efforts appear limited to mere photo sessions, failing to address the pressing issue of government flour scarcity.

In response to the dire situation, newspaper vendors staged a protest, criticizing the government and the food department for their indifference. Speaking to the media, representatives of the newspaper vendor union voiced frustration, highlighting that government flour appears to be reserved solely for the privileged few. Despite repeated appeals and communication with the DFC in Muzaffarabad, their pleas seem to fall on deaf ears.

Newspaper vendors play a vital role in ensuring newspapers reach doorsteps and offices promptly, regardless of weather conditions. Yet, they lament being neglected and treated unfairly by the state.

They call upon the Azad Kashmir government to take immediate action to address the plight of newspaper vendors in Muzaffarabad division and across the entire state. Failing intervention, they threaten to escalate their protest to a statewide campaign.
