With internet services suspended in Pakistan-administered Kashmir since 6 June 2026, timely reporting has become increasingly challenging. The Azadi Times is inviting Kashmir-based writers and journalists to join our network of authors and contributors.

Officials stated that the raids were carried out under a court-authorized search warrant dating back to 2003, with the related First Information Report (FIR) registered at the relevant district office. The case reportedly concerns the misuse of social media platforms to promote armed groups and their activities, as well as running an online module allegedly linked to recruitment or propaganda.

Preliminary inputs indicate that some individuals may have been in digital contact with handlers outside the region, using encrypted messaging platforms. Authorities say these activities allegedly aimed to influence youth and disrupt local peace and stability.

During the search operations, seven individuals were taken into custody for questioning, and digital evidence was seized. Officials suggest that analysis of the confiscated data may reveal broader networks and could lead to additional detentions. Investigators continue to probe the full extent of the alleged activities, identify other participants, and track communications potentially linked to external handlers.

Local observers have expressed concerns over the impact of such operations on daily life, emphasizing the need for transparency and adherence to due process while addressing issues of online influence.
