Special Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader Visits Occupied Kashmir

Srinagar: (Azadi Times) Agha Dr. Syed Mehdi Alizadeh Mousavi, the Special Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, visited Occupied Kashmir on June 6.

He offered Zuhr prayer at the historic Jama Masjid of Srinagar and visited the historical educational institution, Anjuman Nusratul Islam.

During his visit to Jama Masjid, Dr. Syed Mehdi praised the unique architecture of the Grand Mosque and the beauty of this great place of worship. He expressed regret that the head of the Anjuman Awqaf Jama Masjid, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has been under house arrest for the past four years. He said that he was unable to meet and discuss with Mirwaiz due to house arrest.

Dr. Syed Mehdi was presented with a history of Anjuman Awqaf and other scholarly gifts as well as a Kashmiri shawl by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Earlier, Dr. Syed Mehdi also visited the historical educational institution Anjuman Nusratul Islam and its affiliated institutions including Islamia Oriental College, Anjuman Library, Islamia High School historical building, and auditorium. He got acquainted with the history of one of the oldest educational institutions of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

While talking to the officials of the association, Dr. Syed Mehdi assured all possible support for the teaching of the Persian language at Islamia Oriental College so that this important language can be taught and the understanding between the two countries can be promoted far and wide. Agha Syed Sabat Shabir Qumi, head of Parwan Province was also present on the occasion of Dr. Syed Mehdi’s visit.

Dr. Syed Mehdi’s visit is seen as a sign of Iran’s growing support for the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir. It is also seen as a message to India that Iran will continue to stand with the people of Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination.

Former Azad Kashmir PM Farooq Haider Khan Calls for New Approach to Kashmir Issue

Muzaffarabad, June 8, 2023: — (Azadi Times) Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan called for a new approach to the Kashmir issue at the Kashmir Literary Festival in Muzaffarabad on Saturday.

Khan said that the traditional method of diplomacy is not working and that Pakistan needs to come up with a new strategy to counter India’s “horrifying plan” to usurp Kashmir.

“The policymakers of Pakistan need to realize that the traditional method of diplomacy is not working,” Khan said. “They need to come up with new ideas and adopt a new policy that will be accepted at the international level.”

Khan also said that the government of Pakistan should facilitate the Azad Kashmir government in presenting the case of Kashmir at the international level.

“The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir including Gilgit-Baltistan is a unity,” Khan said. “Any decision about its future should be according to the will of the people of this region.”

Khan’s speech was well-received by the audience, which included a large number of people from civil society and other schools of thought.

Azad Kashmir: Protestors Demand Immediate Appointment of Newly Selected SST Teachers

Muzaffarabad, June 6, 2023: Hundreds of protestors took to the streets of Muzaffarabad on Tuesday to demand the immediate appointment of newly selected secondary school teachers (SSTs).

The protestors, who were led by the Anti-Adhak Movement, gathered outside the office of the Public Service Commission (PSC) and chanted slogans against the government. They accused the government of delaying the appointment of the newly selected teachers in order to protect the interests of ad-hoc teachers.

The protestors also demanded that the government take action against the ad-hoc mafia, which they said was responsible for the delay in the appointment of the newly selected teachers.

Addressing the protestors, Dr. Raja Karamat Hussain, President of the Anti-Adhak Movement, said that the selection process for the SST posts had been pending since 2018 due to court injunctions. He said that the Azad Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission (AJKPSC) had conducted examinations and interviews for the posts in September 2022, but the government had not yet issued the appointment orders.

Dr. Hussain said that there were 822 men and women who had been selected for the SST posts, but they were still waiting for their appointments. He said that the government was discriminating against the newly selected teachers by delaying their appointments.

AJK School Teachers Organisation to Protest Daily from June 5

Muzaffarabad: The Central Executive Committee of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK School Teachers Organization has decided to protest daily from June 6 in favor of their demands.

The meeting was attended by all central officials, divisional, district, and tehsil presidents, and members of the executive committee. A detailed discussion was held regarding the problems faced by the teachers and their solutions.

It was decided in the meeting that all district presidents along with tehsil presidents and central officials in their respective districts will implement the recognized demand of scale upgradation of teachers which was announced by the government (time) from 1st July 2023. Through a press conference, they will announce the date of the one-day protest, from June 5 to June 14, a protest will be held in one district every day and there will be a teaching boycott across the district on that day.

It was also decided in the meeting that the registration fee will not be collected in any case till the implementation of the reforms proposed by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir School Teachers Organization regarding the elementary boards.

Full cooperation was assured in the series and it was clarified that the Assistant Education Officers should not try to put pressure on the elementary teachers and all District and Tehsil Presidents should oblige the concerned Assistant Education Officers in writing in this regard.

The participants of the meeting termed the recent increase in registration fee by the Mirpur Board as a cruel move and demanded that the decision be withdrawn immediately and that the registration fee for the second time in intermediate after matric should be abolished.

The participants of the meeting also demanded that the meeting of the selection boards of all cadres of teachers, which has been delayed for years, should be held immediately.

At the end of the meeting, along with prayers for the stability of Pakistan, tributes were paid to the martyrs and veterans of the Pakistan Army.

The protest by the AJK School Teachers Organization is a sign of their growing frustration with the government.

The teachers are demanding that the government fulfill its promises and address their concerns. The government needs to take the teachers’ demands seriously and find a way to resolve the issue.

PM Anwar Haq Thanks AJK Assembly for Approving 15th Constitutional Amendment

Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwar Haq has thanked the AJK Legislative Assembly for approving the 15th constitutional amendment.

In a speech to the assembly on Tuesday, Haq said that the amendment would “break the stasis” and allow the government to “do a year’s work in a month.”

He also said that the amendment would not cost any more money than the previous system, which had 16 ministers. Haq said that the expenses of the ministers would be met by reducing 80% of the expenses of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Haq thanked the PML-N, PPP, like-minded friends, and PTI Azad Kashmir friends for not obstructing the progress of the house. He said that the government’s job is to tolerate criticism and that he is a “trained political activist, not the product of any accident.”

Haq said that the assembly is the source of power and that as the prime minister, he gave the first order to implement the speaker’s ruling. He said that Latif Akbar is a dedicated political activist who will lead the House in a better way.

Chaudhry Latif Akbar Elected Speaker of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly

Muzaffarabad, Azadi Times (04 June 2023) — Chaudhry Latif Akbar was elected Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Saturday. He received 19 votes, while his opponent, Chaudhry Maqbool Gujjar, received no votes.

The election was held at a special session of the assembly, which was chaired by Deputy Speaker Chaudhry Riaz Gujjar. Akbar was nominated for the speakership by members of the assembly Syed Bazal Ali Naqvi and Ahmed Raza Qadri, while Gujjar was nominated by Khawaja Farooq Ahmed and Chaudhry Rafiq Nayar.

After his election, Akbar took the oath of office. He thanked the members of the assembly for their support and said that he would run the house according to the rules and regulations.
