Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd

The decision to observe the 40th anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed as Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd was taken by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in a meeting held on January 25.

The APHC is an alliance of Kashmiri nationalist parties that advocates for the right to self-determination for Kashmir.

The APHC said that the observance of Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd would be an occasion to renew the pledge to continue the struggle for the freedom of Kashmir. The APHC also called for a complete shutdown in Kashmir on February 11 to mark the anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed.

Significance

The observance of the 40th anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed as Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd is significant in several ways. First, it is a reminder of the ongoing struggle for the freedom of Kashmir.

Second, it is a tribute to the sacrifices of Muhammad Maqbool Butt Shaheed and other Kashmiri martyrs. Third, it is an opportunity for Kashmiris to reaffirm their commitment to the cause of freedom.

The observance of Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd is also likely to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Kashmir. The APHC’s call for a complete shutdown on February 11 is a sign of the growing discontent among Kashmiris with Indian rule. The observance of Youm-e-Tajdeed-e-Ahd is also likely to put pressure on the Indian government to address the Kashmir issue.
