Labourers Protest Political Interference in Wages, PDP Demands Action

Date:

Pampore, Indian Administered Jammu Kashmir: A group of labourers in Latribal, Pampore, staged a protest on Saturday against alleged harassment by a political leader, demanding an end to political interference in their wages. The demonstrators expressed their frustration, vowing not to tolerate any attempts to undermine their rightful earnings.

The protest drew attention to the growing concerns over the exploitation of workers in the region. The labourers accused a local political leader of meddling in their wage negotiations, which they claimed was an attempt to suppress their income.

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) District President GM Shahoore strongly condemned the incident, calling it a grave injustice to the working class. In a statement, Shahoore expressed deep regret over the exploitation of labourers for political gains and demanded an immediate and impartial inquiry into the matter.

Shahoore also called on the BJP’s Union Territory president to clarify his party’s stance on the issue, questioning the alleged involvement of a BJP leader in the controversy.

“The exploitation of labourers for political purposes is unacceptable. We demand a fair investigation and immediate action against those responsible,” Shahoore said.

The protesting workers vowed to continue their fight until their concerns were addressed, warning that they would not succumb to any pressure or compromise on their rights.

This incident highlights the ongoing struggles faced by labourers in the region, where political interference and exploitation remain pressing issues. The protest has sparked calls for greater accountability and protection of workers’ rights in Kashmir.
