Helicopter Crash Details

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was returning to Tabriz after inaugurating a dam. The Azerbaijani president also attended the dam’s inauguration ceremony.

The helicopter, which was carrying President Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the governor of East Azerbaijan, Malek Rahmati, and a spokesperson for the Iranian Supreme Leader, crashed in the Dizmar forest due to adverse weather conditions.

The accident occurred in the area between the Uzi district and the town of Pir Davood.

Media reports indicate that heavy fog and rain were the causes of the helicopter crash.

The presidential helicopter lost contact with the other two helicopters half an hour into the flight.
