Gilgit Awami Action Committee Gilgit-Baltistan held a “Grand Jirga” at a local hotel on October 21 for the abolition of wheat subsidy, against the Revenue Act 2022, unreasonable increase in electricity rates and other black laws, and for setting up a new intermediate board. Reported Azadi Times..,

The present assembly is a fake assembly that is protecting the interests of the rulers of Islamabad instead of protecting the rights of the people. This assembly does not speak in favor of the people, but these members are working together with Islamabad. They run a knife on the neck of their people.

Speakers Gilgit (PR) Grand Jirga organized by Awami Action Committee Gilgit-Baltistan held at a local hotel in Gilgit. Central Anjuman Tajran Registered, Pakhtun Welfare, Nagar Supreme Council, Pashtun Residents, Civil Society Constituency 3, Shopping Malls Association, KNM, High Court Bar, Awami Workers Party Gilgit-Baltistan, Red Worker Front, Anjuman Hussaini Nagar, Jamaat Leaders and officials of other organizations including Islamic, Flour Mills Association participated.

The meeting unanimously announced a protest sit-in at Etihad Chowk from October 21 against the abolition of wheat subsidy, the Revenue Act 2022, unnecessary increase in electricity rates, and the establishment of a new intermediate board. Addressing the meeting, the Chairman of Awami Action Committee Fidah Hussain, Founding Chairman Ehsan Advocate, Former Chairman Sultan Raees, Chief of Awami Workers Party Comrade Baba Jan, Sheikh Shabir Hakimi, Maulana Tanveer, Former Chairman of KNM Mumtaz Nagri, G.B.

UM leader Fida Hussain and others said that Gilgit-Baltistan is a disputed region, where the imposition of taxes, removal of wheat subsidies, and other black laws are illegal. Minerals and mountains are being looted illegally and efforts are being made to alienate the people on their land, which the two million people here will not tolerate.

Addressing the Grand Jirga, the speakers said that the current assembly is a fake assembly. which is protecting the interests of the rulers of Islamabad instead of protecting the rights of the people, this assembly does not speak in favor of the people, but these members are running a knife on the neck of their people in collaboration with Islamabad.

The speakers further said that now the people of Gilgit-Baltistan cannot be divided into sects and regions and fight among themselves because the people are now conscious and know how to fight for their rights.

At the end of the meeting, a sit-in was also announced in Gilgit from October 21 in favor of the demands.
