Imran Khan’s Arrest in Al-Qadir Trust Latest Updates

Islamabad: (Azadi Times) Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan has been arrested from Islamabad by the orders of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the “Al-Qadir Trust” case.

The name of Al-Qadir Trust came to the fore after the fall of Imran Khan’s government in Pakistan last year. Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were accused of acquiring billions of rupees worth of land for their trust by legitimizing an illegal sum of Rs 50 billion from an influential property businessman.

According to Dakhla Rana Sanaullah of Pakistan, during the government of PTI, the National Crime Agency of Great Britain took this money from the said person and returned it to Pakistan after the money laundering investigation.

According to the BBC, it was also alleged by the government at the time that the property tycoon had also given Al-Qadir University Trust land to Imran Khan and his wife to ‘cover’ his other illegal dealings. Pakistan The National Accountability Bureau, an agency that investigates corruption, has turned the inquiry into an investigation against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife regarding hundreds of kanals of land in the name of Al-Qadir University Trust and the case with the “property tycoon” allegedly.

 

But it came to light after giving a legal cover to the amount of more than fifty billion. NAB officials were earlier investigating the alleged misuse of powers and the process of recovery of crime money received from the UK.

 

An officer investigating the case told the BBC that they had undisputed evidence, on the basis of which the inquiry into the matter has been converted into an investigation. Accordingly, when the matter reaches the stage of investigation, then the accused are directly investigated and if necessary, they can be arrested for questioning.

 

NAB officials said that in this case, Imran Khan, Bushra B. The inquiry against B. Barrister Shehzad Akbar and the real estate developer has been converted into an investigation. According to Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Gohar, when he came to know that the inquiry being conducted in Al-Qadir Trust has been converted into an investigation. So he filed an application in the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, in which it was requested that the NAB be stopped from arresting him.

 

According to the NAB officials, when the NAB started the inquiry, it summoned almost all the cabinet members of Imran Khan’s government. who attended the meeting on 3rd December 2019, however, according to NAB officials, some PTI leaders appeared before NAB. Within a few months of the registration of the trust deed in the sub-registrar office of Islamabad, 460 kanals in Jhelum.

 

The land was purchased and transferred to Imran Khan’s close friend Zulfi Bukhari and after the creation of the trust, Zulfi Bukhari transferred the land to the trust.
