In Yemen, 16 killed in US-UK attacks: Houthi TV

Date:

Houthi-controlled television reported on Friday that 16 people were killed and 35 wounded in American and British attacks on the province of Al-Hudaydah in Yemen.

The TV channel has informed that in the attacks, a radio building in the Al-Hawk district of Hudaydah and the port of Al-Salif were targeted.

American and British forces said that they launched attacks against Houthi targets in Yemen on Thursday in an attempt to prevent further disruption to shipping in the Red Sea.

The US Central Command said in a statement that American and British forces targeted 13 objectives in areas under Houthi control.

The British Ministry of Defense said that in joint action, three locations in the port city of Al-Hudaydah, on the Red Sea coast, were targeted where drones and ground-to-air weapons were present.

The British Ministry of Defense said in a statement, “As always, extreme caution was taken in planning attacks to minimize the risk to civilians or non-military infrastructure.”

The statement further said, “Attacks during the darkness will further reduce such risks.”

The Houthis, who control the capital and most populous areas of Yemen, have been attacking international shipping in the Red Sea since November to express solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza conflict, which has led to American and British retaliatory attacks since February.”
