Kotli, (AJK) Pakistan administered Kashmir — Authorities in Kotli have issued warnings and stepped up preparedness as monsoon rains increase the risk of flooding and river surges along the Poonch River and nearby areas.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Civil Defence Kotli, a unit-level awareness and warning campaign has been launched to inform residents of potential hazards and necessary precautions.
Civil Defence volunteers are visiting homes, neighbourhoods, and community spaces to advise people on safety measures, while announcements are also being made through mosques to ensure the message reaches everyone effectively and promptly.
Residents have been urged to strictly follow administrative instructions and to avoid unnecessary movement near the river.
In case of any emergency, the public has been advised to immediately contact the fusion control room, Rescue 1122, or the nearest Civil Defence unit.
The District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Kotli stated that they remain active and committed to safeguarding lives and property amid the ongoing monsoon season.
